Frequently Asked Questions

  • EcoSomatics combines somatics and ecology.

Somatics is a body-based therapy. Instead of overriding or suppressing our emotions like we are taught in modern society, we work with our emotions and sensations. We learn to trust our bodies and hold space for them them in a patient, gentle, and compassionate way. This allows our emotions and sensations to complete their natural cycles, release, and make space in our bodies.

Ecology is about restoring our relationship with nature. Remembering that our wellbeing is deeply interconnected and interdependent with the natural world allows us to find support, peace, purpose, and deep connection in our lives and in our communities.

  • Coaching is not the same as therapy or counseling, though they do share some techniques in common.Therapy often looks toward the past to bring closure and acceptance related to trauma, or focuses on finding coping strategies related to mental health disorders.

Coaching works with present-moment experiences and looks forward into the future. Coaching focuses on capacity building, strengthening resilience, supporting growth, exploring possibilities, and working towards desired goals. Together we are exploring how we can move forward from where we currently are to where we would like to be and how we would like to show up in the world.

Both coaching and therapy serve an important purpose in the world. Deciding which one is the best fit for you at this moment is ultimately up to you.

  • While my work is trauma-sensitive, I do not work on healing trauma. I also do not work on healing mental health issues such as clinical depression, suicidal ideation, generalized anxiety disorder, etc.

However if you are someone who is experiencing trauma or mental health struggles it is still quite possible for us to work together. As long as you have additional support such as a therapist, and our sessions are not focused on addressing trauma or mental health, then we can still use coaching to work towards your life goals.

If you are in search of a local Somatic Therapist who works on trauma, please see this list.

  • Yes! I have one coaching package called “Somatics for Activists.” Learn more about it on my Services page.

If this topic isn’t a good fit for you but you’re still interested in a coaching package, I’ve got you covered! During our free discovery call I will ask you about your goals and how many sessions you are interested in working together. From that point we can come up with a plan regarding the number of sessions and overall cost.

For some situations we might accomplish your desired outcome in one session. In other situations we might want to meet for several months. Ultimately I am here to support you on your journey. We will take this at your pace and I’ll do my best to accommodate your financial and scheduling parameters.

  • We have several meeting options:
